Abdullahi Babalele, son-in-law of Atiku Abubakar, presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the 2019 elections, has been granted bail by a federal high court in Lagos.
The trial judge, Nicholas Oweibo granted him a bail of N20 million with one surety in like sum, on Thursday.
Owoeibo also directed Babalele to deposit his passport with the court.
Babalele was arraigned by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) for allegedly laundering $140,000 in the build-up to the general election. He had pleaded not guilty to the charges levelled against him.
Recall that Uyiekpen Osagie-Giwa, Atiku’s lawyer, was also arraigned by the EFCC for allegedly laundering $2 million in connection with the elections.
