Governors elected under the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) have cautioned the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) against becoming a tool in the hands of the ruling All Progressives Congress in the release of bailout funds to states that deserved them.
The advice came against the background of allegations of failure of the apex bank in releasing the bailout fund for Kogi State, even when other states mostly of the APC states had received theirs.
In a press statement in Abuja on Friday, the coordinator of the PDP Governors Forum, Earl Osaro Onaiwu, accused the CBN of allowing itself to be dictated to by the ruling APC on which states to get the bailout fund despite Kogi having fulfilled all the requirements. Osaro urged the CBN to insulate itself from politics and the control of the ruling party if it did not want to create political and financial crises in the country.
