Kayode Sesan

President Muhammadu Buhari says he will attend the inauguration of President Roch Marc Christian Kabore of Burkina Faso on Dec. 29.

The president confirmed this development at a joint press briefing with the Interim President of Burkina Faso, Michel Kafando, after their closed door meeting at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, on Wednesday.

He said that his decision to witness the event followed a special invitation extended to him by the out-going interim president.

“I congratulated (Michel Kafando) him personally for conducting free, fair and credible elections.

“That is why I accepted the invitation to go for the inauguration on Dec. 29, instance.’’

President Buhari congratulated the government and people of Burkina Faso for their commitment to entrench constitutional order and democracy.

Kafando had earlier expressed his country’s appreciation to Nigeria for restoring democracy in his country.
