Abducted social media activist, Abubakar Idriss, popularly known as Abu Hanifa Dadiyata is not in the custody of the Department of State Services (DSS) according to a Jaafar Jaafar, publisher of the Daily Nigerian.
Daily Nigerian had reported Dadiyata’s abduction by officers of the DSS on Friday.
According to the report, his arrest was confirmed in a statement on Friday issued by Sanusi Bature Dawakin-Tofa, the spokesperson to the 2019 PDP governorship candidate for Kano State, Abba Yusuf.
“Report reaching us has confirmed that heavily armed security personnel believed to be operatives of the DSS have arrested Abubakar Idriss, popularly known as Abu Hanifa Dadiyata in his Kaduna residence last night.
“Dadiyata is the leading social media activist in Twitter community that protects and projects Kwankwasiyya ideology and the PDP in northern Nigeria,” the statement read in part.
But in a tweet on Sunday, Jafaar said; “I have spoken with Peter Afunnaya, the DSS spokesman and Ahmed Koya the Kaduna State Director of DSS. They said they don’t have anybody named Abubakar Idris Dadiyata in their custody.”
