We Have Discovered a Formula to Reduce Price of Food Items – Ogbeh

The minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Audu Ogbeh, said on Wednesday that the federal government has discovered a formula and adopted some models to reduce the price of food items all over the country.

Ogbeh revealed this while addressing State House correspondents at the end of the meeting of the Federal Executive Council, FEC.

Just last week, a task force was set up to find solutions to the rising price of food items in the country.

According to Ogbeh, the committee had identified that the hike in cost was “not due to shortage but high cost of transportation.”

He noted that the high cost of diesel used by huge trucks to move food items led to the high price of food items.

The minister said the government had decided to “start using railway wagons to transport food items.”

He noted that the transport system was already being used for transportation of cattle and will be replicated for food items.

He added, “We will also work with state governments to reduce delays experienced by trucks along the roads through all sort of taxes by local governments.”
