Echiejile Joins Standard Liege on Loan

Super Eagles defender Elderson Echiejile has completed a loan switch to Standard Liege from French side Monaco.

The Nigerian was reportedly close to agreeing a loan deal to Spanish side Espanyol, but according to Spanish Sports site Mundo Deportivo the move broke down due to irreconcilable differences in their valuation of the player.

Echiejile has been at Monaco since making a January move to the French side in 2014, with 38 appearances and one goal to his name in three and half season.

Since moving to Europe in 2008 from Bendel Insurance, he has raked up a total of 131 appearances with 6 goals from his role as a defender.

He has turned out for French side Rennes, Portuguese side Sporting Braga before his move to French side Monaco.

Nigeria international Elderson Echiejile has agreed a season-long loan move to Belgian topflight outfit Standard Liege.
