PSG have reportedly offered Edinson Cavani €1 million in an exchange to concede the penalty duties to Neymar, according to El Pais.
The Spanish publication has claimed that the Uruguayan international was offered the stunning incentive, which amounts to the potential bonus he would receive if he topped the scoring charts in Ligue 1 this season, but the striker turned down the offer.
PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaifi has spent the past week negotiating with Cavani and his team in a bid to reach an agreement following his spat with Neymar during the club’s 2-0 win over Lyon last week.
Neymar was seen protesting with Cavani as they jostled over who should the penalty kick with the score at 1-0, which the latter subsequently missed.
The Spanish daily also claims the PSG squad are backing Cavani, with the 30-year-old designated as the club’s penalty taker before the Brazilian’s arrival during the summer.
PSG started the season with six straight wins but were held to a 0-0 draw against Montpellier on Saturday.
