The Governor of Kaduna State, Nasir El-Rufai says he is saddened by the violence and killings in the state and has vowed to punish the perpetrators.
He gave the assurance in a state-wide broadcast on Monday in Kaduna, the state capital.
He said, “I address you today, with a heavy heart, saddened by the violence and loss of lives in parts of our state since Thursday, the 18th of October 2018, when unrest broke out in Kaso Magani.
“The state government promptly imposed a curfew in the area. We visited Kaso Magani on Friday the 19th of October, 2018, to see things for ourselves, to commiserate with the people and to assess the security situation which had by then, become calm.
“We condemned the violence and extend our sympathy to the victims, the survivors and their families.
“I assure everyone affected that we will seek justice for them and clearly underline that criminals will be punished according to our laws”.
His comments followed the killing of three persons in a fresh attack around the Narayi area of the state, following a violence that broke out in the state on Sunday.
According to residents, the attackers stormed the community in the early hours of Monday and opened fire on some men who were guarding the area.
