Hon. Salihu Adamu Yanga: A Pillar of Progress in Kwaya Kusar LGA – By A. A. Mshelia

Hon. Salihu Adamu Yanga, the Chairman of Kwaya Kusar Local Government Area (LGA) in Borno State, has emerged as a transformative leader whose tenure has been marked by significant strides in infrastructure, education, healthcare, and community development. His leadership is characterized by a deep commitment to the welfare of his people, unwavering loyalty to his state and political allies, and a vision for sustainable growth.

Under Hon. Yanga’s leadership in Kwaya Kusar LGA over the years has witnessed remarkable infrastructural advancements through his strategic lobbying. He has continued to play pivotal roles in his region, within his powers as Chairman.

Hon. Yanga has also been instrumental in advocating for and facilitating the construction of vital educational facilities in the LGA. His efforts culminated in the commissioning of a newly built Government Secondary School in Yimir Dalang, which boasts 20 classrooms capable of accommodating 1,000 students, along with staff quarters. This landmark project reflects his belief in education as a cornerstone of long-term community development.

Recognizing the importance of accessible healthcare, Hon. Yanga has lobbyed and supported the establishment and upgrading of medical centres across the local government. These initiatives have improved the health and well-being of thousands, ensuring that even remote communities receive adequate medical attention and preventive care.

A strong advocate for inclusive governance, Hon. Yanga has prioritized the empowerment of youth and women. Through local skill acquisition programs, vocational training centres, and small-business support schemes, he has opened up new pathways for economic independence and social inclusion, particularly for marginalized groups. These programs are not only changing individual lives but also strengthening the socio-economic fabric of Kwaya Kusar.

Throughout his political career, Hon. Yanga has remained a loyal ally to both the Borno State Government and his political mentor, Rt. Hon. Muktar Aliyu Betara, OON. His consistent alignment with Betara’s vision and policies has allowed for smooth collaboration and coordinated development efforts. His strong support for the administration of Governor Babagana Umara Zulum further highlights his dedication to state-wide progress and unified leadership.

His dedication to the people of Kwaya Kusar is evident in the way he carries out his duties — with humility, transparency, and a deep sense of service. He is a hands-on leader, frequently engaging directly with communities to understand their challenges and deliver practical solutions. This people-first approach has made him one of the most respected figures in local governance.

Remarkably, Hon. Yanga has held the chairmanship position for a sustained period, a rare feat in contemporary local politics. His longevity in office is not due to political manoeuvring but to the overwhelming and sustained trust of his constituents. The people have repeatedly affirmed their support for him, drawn to his results-oriented leadership and compassionate governance.

I am proud of what he is doing because I am an indigene of Kwaya-Kusar myself, and as we look toward the future, Hon. Salihu Adamu Yanga stands as a dependable and visionary leader. His legacy is being built not just on rhetoric but on real projects, real progress, and real connections with the people he serves. In a time when political trust is scarce, Yanga has proven himself to be a fellow to rely on — today and in the years to come.
