The Independent National Electoral Commission is to deploy 16,139 ad hoc workers to 2,548 polling units and 3,508 additional voting points in Kogi State during the November governorship election.
This was disclosed on Tuesday by the National Commissioner, INEC and chair, Information and Voter Education Committee, Festus Okoye, at the INEC campus outreach at the Federal College of Education, Okene. in conjunction with the European Centre for Electoral Support.
He said the commission has concluded all arrangements needed for the smooth conduct of the election as all non-sensitive materials had been moved in to the state.
Okoye said the campus sensitisation programme was also part of the commission’s preparedness for the smooth conduct of the election.
Okoye urged those penciled down for the ad hoc job to be good ambassador of the commission and reject all inducements by politicians to manipulate the electoral process.
Also speaking on the occasion, the provost of the college, Dr Usman Hassan, said youths had important roles to play in shaping the future of the country.
