The Islamic State’s news agency Amaq confirmed their fighters carried out a series of bombings with explosive belts and devices on Tuesday in Brussels according to reports.
The attacks targeted Zaventem Airport and Maelbeek metro station because Belgium is “a country participating in the international coalition against the Islamic State”, as the Amaq agency article reported.
“Islamic State fighters opened fire inside Zaventem Airport, before several of them detonated their explosive belts, as a martyrdom bomber detonated his explosive belt in the Maalbeek metro station. The attacks resulted in more than 230 dead and wounded”, says the report, confirming that the IS fighters opened fire before the explosions took place at the airport. However, this information was not confirmed yet.
“What will be coming is worse”, ISIS supporters wrote on Twitter. “With the permission of God, the lions came to take revenge for the killing of Muslims in Syria and Iraq,” posted another supporter of the terror group, before his account got suspended. “#Brussels, if you continue your war against the religion of Allah then this is our response.”. “Allahu Akbar, #Belgium_is_on_fire_from_explosives.” are other messages that supporters shared earlier, accompanied with images of graphic content from the attacks.
