Judge Withdraws From Abba Moro’s Trial

Anwuli Chikere, justice of the federal high court, Abuja, has withdrawn from the trial of Abba Moro, former minister of interior, citing personal reasons, The Cable reports.

In March, Justice Chikere granted Moro bail on self-recognition, and had adjourned the case to April 27 for trial.

However, as the case was called on Monday, she announced her withdrawal from it.

“I am sending it back to the chief judge of the federal high court for reassignment on personal reasons,”Chikere said. “When it is reassigned, the prosecution can go after it.”

Moro is accused of defrauding 676,675 job seekers of N676,675,000 in an immigration recruitment exercise that led to the death of at least 20 young Nigerians.
