Nigerian R&B Artiste Banky W. Joins Pink Oak to Fight Cancer

Pink Oak Cancer Trust has announced the signing of Nigerian singer and actor, Mr. Bankole Wellington (Banky W.) as a Pink Oak Ambassador. He will be unveiled at a luncheon Tuesday held in his honour at the Pink Oak Office in Asokoro, Abuja.

Pink Oak Cancer is Nigeria’s 1st Cancer Treatment Fund which adopts an innovative approach to mobilize funds for cancer diagnosis and treatment in Nigeria. It uses a harmonized and coordinated approach to create a pool of funds from corporations, well-meaning individuals, charity organizations and government. The ambassadors play important roles in mobilizing donors for Pink Oak.

Banky W. who is a cancer survivor has made a strong commitment towards helping cancer patients in Nigeria and becoming a Pink Oak ambassador is one of the ways he intends to achieve this. In his acceptance memo to Pink Oak he said, “I look forward to the journey I’m about to embark with the Pink Oak team. Being a survivor myself, this issue (cancer) has hit very close to home and thus made me even more eager to help other patients in need. I pray that we will be successful in our war against cancer, by God’s grace”.

The Chairman of the Pink Oak Governing Board, Mr. Fola Adeola, OFR, mni has congratulated Banky W for winning the fight against cancer and commended his historic decision to join Pink Oak and help others defeat cancer.  He welcomed him to the team on behalf of the Incorporated Trustees and Board of the organization.

More so, the Executive Director of Pink Oak Cancer Trust, Dr. Laz Ude Eze has expressed excitement that influential Nigerians are buying into to Pink Oak vision. He said, “First, it was Bitto Bryan who signed up with us as the first #DonateToBeatCancer Champion after leaving the Big Brother Naija House. Now, we have Banky W – one of Nigeria’s most celebrated artistes signing up as an ambassador. Many other young influencers have agreed to join in this fight and we shall be unveiling them in the near future. We can’t wait to beat cancer”.

Participants at the unveiling will include some members of the Governing Board, the Pink Oak staff and partners, #DonateToBeatCancer Campaign Champions, cancer survivors, various Nigerian media organisations and other stakeholders.

Pink Oak launched the #DonateToBeatCancer Campaign in April 2018 to raise N200 million and sponsor 50 or more cancer patients this year. This marks another significant progress on our journey towards a Nigeria where all cancer patients across the country are able to afford comprehensive and best possible quality of care in a timely manner.
