Nine people were killed and 20 others were injured in Kenya on Wednesday as a bus and truck exploded after collision.
According to TheStar, the incident happened 03:00 in the dark morning hours near Emali on the Mombasa to Nairobi highway. The BusCar bus had 39 passengers on-board when the collision happened.
“Only two out of the 18 patients that have been received are in a critical condition while the others have been treated and are free to go home,” clinical officer at Kilome Nursing Home Sylvia Kavesa was quoted as saying by DailyNation.
“I was awoken by the screeching of emergency breaks that was followed by a bang and the wailing of passengers who were shouting ‘fire!’,” Clement Wachira, a survivor of the incident reportedly said.
CapitalFM reports that nine bodies were transferred to the Chiromo Mortuary in Nairobi for DNA testing to identify the remain. Ten people are still unaccounted for.
Police reported that the bus was speeding before the incident took place.
