DAAR Communications Plc’s visit to the presidential villa was purely out of corporate responsibility routine, Raymond Dokpesi Jnr has said.
In a chat with SIGNAL on Wednesday, the Chairman of DAAR Communications Plc said the visit to the presidential villa was a matter of corporate routine and not an attempt at seeking a soft landing as being reported by some media organisations.
“I led the company’s delegation to the villa to present a Christmas and New Year card to the President and Vice-President. There was nothing fishy or hidden about the visit. It’s a matter of routine corporate responsibility. We were just fulfilling our corporate obligations just like we have done to previous administrations. It was a public visit and the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Mr. Femi Adesina received the courtesies on behalf of the President. We presented the cards and left”, he said.
Founding Chairman of DAAR Communication, owners of African Independent Television and Ray Power FM, High Chief Raymond Dopkesi is standing trial at a federal high court in Abuja on charges of money laundering and corruption pressed against him by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC.
Those on the delegation led by the current Chairman of the establishment, Mr. Raymond Dokpesi Jnr included the Managing Director, Mr. Tony Akiotu; Managing Director, DAAR News Services, Imoni Amarere; Head, Human Resource, Paulyn Ugbodaga; and Head, Corporate Communications and Kunle Onime.
The Special Adviser to the president on Media and Publicity, Mr. Femi Adesina and a Director of Information, Mr. Justin Abuah received the card for the president just as Senior Special Assistant Documentation in the Vice President’s office, Mr. Sesan Adeboyejo also received the one for Osinbajo.
Meanwhile, the goodwill message on the card read thus: “The chairman, Board of Directors, Management and staff of DAAR Communications Plc, proprietors and operators of Raypower FM, Africa Independent Television and Faaji FM, most heartily felicitate with Your Excellency, President Muhammadu Buhari GCFR and family on the occasions of Eid Maulud, Christmas and New Year 2016.”
