Twenty four hours before he is expected to announce a new set of ministers, Nigeria’s President, Muhammadu Buhari, has sacked 17 permanent secretaries Gold Myne TV is reporting.
In the absence of ministers since his inauguration on May 29, the permanent secretaries have coordinated the affairs of the federal government ministries. President Buhari held periodic meetings with them and travelled with some of them on his foreign trips.
The sack was broken to them this afternoon after a meeting held at the villa between the president and all the permanent secretaries.
Alongside the president at the meeting were the Chief of Staff to the President Abba Kyari and the Head of Civil Service of the Federation.
