Public Fund Looters to Face Prosecution – Buhari

President Muhammadu Buhari insists his administration will prosecute whoever is involved in corrupt practices.

Speaking at the All Progressives Congress presidential campaign rally at the Osogbo Stadium, Osogbo, Osun State, on Saturday, Buhari said his administration was doing all it could to rid the country of corruption.

The President said since he assumed power in 2015, many people involved in corrupt had been prosecuted.

He said, “In the fight against corruption and bribery, many people have been investigated and prosecuted. We are doing our best and I can assure you, whoever is found misappropriating government funds will be prosecuted.”

Buhari said before he was elected, Boko Haram was controlling 17 local government areas in Yobe, Borno and other parts of the North-East.

According to him the insurgents are no longer controlling any local government areas in the North-East.

Buhari said, “I don’t have anything new to say but to remind you of the condition we met the country. We also want to remind you of what we promised during the campaign in 2015 and the progress we have made.”

He added, “Physically they (Boko Haram) are not controlling any local government area now. But they now indoctrinate young men and women who they use as suicide bombers to attack soft targets.

“On the economy, we are very lucky, God heard our prayers, during the last three raining seasons, harvests were good. And government has done its part by providing fertilisers across the country at low prices.

The APC National Chairman, Adams Oshiomhole, said the Peoples Democratic Party’s presidential candidate, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, and the PDP were jittery because of the crowds at Buhari’s campaign rallies in the states he had campaigned for reelection.

The National Leader of the APC, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, told Osun voters to vote for Buhari because he honoured Chief MKO Abiola by recognising June 12.

At an interactive session with Osun State traditional rulers in Osogbo, Buhari denied the APC had been renting crowds for its rallies.

He said, “Nobody can buy the crowds at our rallies. They turned out willingly to show their support.”
