The PDP National Youth Frontier, PDPNYF, has described President Muhammadu Buhari as a drowning President.
The opposition party youth wing made the remark against the backdrop of the current economic challenges.
PDPNYF in a series of tweets on its twitter handle @PDPNYF called for collaborative efforts in tackling the current challenge.
The tweet reads, “A nation in dire need of help . The urgency of now. President Buhari a drowning President.”
Refuting claims that its Caretaker Committee Chairman, Sen Ahmed Makarfi owns a twitter handle, the youth wing of the opposition party said, “For the umpteenth time, we wish to reiterate that the National Chairman, H.E. Senator Ahmed Makarfi, CON, has no Twitter Handle or on any social media platform at all.
“Be warned! This clarification has become necessary in view of the desire of leadership of our great Party, the PDP, to integrate all our numerous members, teeming supporters and the general public on the new operations of the Party in view of its people-oriented rebranding and rebuilding Agenda.
“The attention of Leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has been drawn to diverse comments regarding the Closure of our previous Official Twitter Handle on the 5th of September, 2016 and the Launch of a New Official Handle @officialpdpnig immediately.
“The action was necessary. Equally, we have observed that some elements are creating false social media accounts especially on Twitter and Facebook for some leaders of the Party (past and present) with their photographs and purportedly publishing information on them to mislead the public. Recall that Senator Makarfi had through his SA (Media) earlier informed the public of this development.
“For emphasis and in line with the PDP Constitution, the leadership of the PDP Publicity Division has as its Principal, the National Publicity Secretary who is the Chief Spokesman and Image-Maker of the Party, and Administrative Head (HoD) as enshrined
“Again, our decision to close the Old Handle and Launched the New Handle is to address the issue of unauthorized statements.
“For effective control, our official accounts remain: Twitter Handle – @officialpdpnig; Facebook Account – Official Peoples Democratic Party Nigeria, and email – news@pdppublicity.com.”
Recall that the PDP NYF had in September admonished the President to reshuffle his cabinet by bringing in technocrats that will help rescue the nation from the current economic challenges.
