A National Leader of the All Progressives Congress, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, is expected to inaugurate some projects executed by the present administration in Borno State, Punch reports.
Some of the projects executed by the state Governor, Kashim Shettima’s administration to be inaugurated by Tinubu include the 432 resettlement houses for the victims of Boko Haram in three villages; 13 primary and junior secondary schools, a general hospital and five primary health centres.
Others are irrigation dams, mobile fish ponds and economic empowerment scheme for village women.
The Commissioner for Local Government and Emirate Affairs and Chairman of the Projects Inauguration Committee, Alhaji Usman Zanna, said in a statement on Sunday that Tinubu would be the first distinguished leader invited by Shettima to inaugurate a series of projects executed by his administration.
He said, “This is to show that in the face of the Boko Haram insurgency, the governor has made a telling impact on the development of the state.”
According to the statement, Tinubu is also expected to inaugurate 26 luxury apartments of five detached three-storey buildings located in Maiduguri to serve as residence for medical doctors which Shettima has named ‘Bola Tinubu Court’.
The statement revealed that most of the projects to be inaugurated were in six villages – Ngamdu, Benisheikh, Mainta Kururi, Tamsukawu, Mainok and Auno located in Kaga and Konduga local government areas of Borno State.
The commissioner revealed that after Tinubu’s visit, the wife of the late despot, Maryam Abacha, would visit the state to inaugurate a 250-bed ultra modern hospital for women and children named after her.
However, inside sources informed about the development told SIGNAL on Monday, the visit to Borno may not be unconnected to political moves targeted at reaching out to stakeholders ahead of the 2019 presidential election.
A few days before, Tinubu had told journalists at a public event he is not ruling himself out of running for president, although he later clarified he would not run for president if Buhari is in the race.
President Buhari is currently ill and on a medical vacation to the United Kingdom which has lasted over one month, fuelling concerns he may not be strong enough to run for President in 2019 even if he makes it back to complete his current term as president.
