2017 Patriots In Leadership And Service (PILAS) Awards: Call for Nominations

The Board of the Patriots In Leadership And Service (PILAS) Awards has announced the categories for its 2017 edition and has called for nominations.

Speaking at a press briefing to unveil the 2017 categories, the President of PILAS, Mr. Paul Odafe Utho said some new categories that were overlooked in the previous edition have been identified and added to the awards.

This, he said, was necessary so as to have a balanced event where no one that has contributed towards the success of the Nigerian project is neglected.

Some of the new categories include: ‘State House of Assembly, Sports Person, Local Government Chairman and Illustrious Artistes. These are in addition to the existing categories such as Man of the Year, Woman of the Year, Special Honors, Lifetime Integrity, NASS, Government Level, Entrepreneurship, Business Development and Innovations, Charity and Philanthropy and Young Person.

Speaking further, a member of the board, Alhaji Mustapha Maccido said the goal of the Patriots In Leadership And service (PILAS) Awards which has received a lot of positive reviews after the last edition, remains the same – identifying, celebrating and encouraging outstanding performance in the public and private sector. He said the goal of the Patriots In Leadership And Service (PILAS) Awards is to become the reference point for independent credible and acceptable awards in Nigeria and Africa.

Some of the recipients of the 2016 edition include former President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan, Tony Elumelu, Prophet T.B. Joshua, Mrs. Folorunso Alakija, among others.

The 2017 edition is scheduled to hold in Abuja on Saturday 3rd June 2017 and will feature live performances by top artistes & comedians. The theme of the 2017 edition is ‘Leadership: The challenge of Growing Democracies’.
