2019: Atikulated Youth Force Challenges Buhari, Says He Must Debate

The Atikulated Youth Force, a movement of Nigerian youths backing the candidacy of Atiku Abubakar, the Presidential Candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has called on President Muhammadu Buhari to jettison any thought of skipping the 19 January 2019 Presidential Debate.

In a statement released in Abuja on Thursday by its spokesperson, Stanley Ebosie, the campaign said that Nigerians deserve to hear the president’s explanation for the steady rise in unemployment, a trend that has been consistent all through his administration and the overall poor performance of the economy.

“The large number of people that tuned in to watch the Vice Presidential debate and that followed the conversations on social media and all online platforms is a testament to the fact that Nigerians are yearning to hear from the people that have indicated interest to lead them.

“Following Vice President Yemi Osinbajo’s underwhelming performance – evident in his inability to articulate his party’s agenda for Nigerians and his penchant to provide misleading information on why we are where we are as a nation today, and the demonstration of lack of understanding of the issues by the Vice Presidential Candidates of ACPN, ANN owing to their inexperience, we can now all see that the Presidential Debate is between President Muhammadu Buhari and the leading Presidential Candidate Atiku Abubakar.

“This is an opportunity for President Muhammadu Buhari to tell Nigerians what his administration has done and what they intend to do, as well as fill the gaping holes left by his deputy at the Vice Presidential debate. He must be physically present to do this himself so that Nigerians can gauge his intellect and capacity to deliver on his promises. Anything short of this will amount to a brazen disregard for the Nigerian people”, the statement said.
