2023: Ortom Makes U-turn, Backs Atiku for President

Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom has rescinded his decision not to support the Presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), former vice-president, Atiku Abubakar.

The governor said on Monday that he was now in support of the presidential ambition of Atiku for next year’s presidency.

Ortom, who has been loyal to Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State had said he was still praying to God on whether to support Atiku or not for the presidency.

But on Monday, Ortom made U-turn, while speaking at an expanded stakeholders meeting of the PDP in Makurdi.

According to him, he would not contradict what Atiku had said during his interview on Arise TV, adding that Atiku was his candidate and would stand behind him.

He tweeted: “I will not contradict@atiku on what he said. He is my candidate and I am behind him.

“Whatever happened in the course of the primaries and nomination of the Presidential running mate is now a thing of the past.

“PDP is a family, and we will always settle our matters in-house.”
