Senate to Probe Jonathan’s N35 Billion Aviation Fund

Princess Stella Oduah

The Senate Wednesday resolved to probe the N35 billion alleged to have been released by former President Goodluck Jonathan for the rehabilitation and development of infrastructure in the aviation sector.

The resolution was sequel to a report of adhoc committee on aviation sector chaired by Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso of the All Progressive Congress (APC), representing Kano Central senatorial district.

Presenting the report of his committee tagged “The worrisome and unstable position of Nigerian Aviation industry,” Kwankwaso suggested the probe of the funds.

In view of this, Senate mandated its committees on Aviation and anti-corruption to carry out investigation on the disbursement and utilisation of the funds. It also resolved to look into the $40m AFRIXIM loan granted to the sector during the last administration.
