Concerned about the upsurge in unemployment among Nigerian youths, a foundation, Benny Umoren Foundation presents #EncourageEntrepreneurChallenge to provide startup funds for budding entrepreneurs.
The contest which awards N100,000 funding to successful participants to start up a business of their choice, encourages youths and women to go into private ventures.
According to the organiser, Benny Umoren, the initiative was part of the foundation moves to curb crimes in the society, which has shored up in recent time.
She listed processes which participants must follow to benefit from the initiative, which includes sending “an email to bennyumorenfoundation@gmail.com on a business you can use hundred thousand naira.”
Participants, she said, must add in their proposal what they could use “N100,000 to start which can create a job for others in the future. Attach your contact information (name, address, and phone number)”
“All entries will be listed on www.bennyumorenfoundation.org on the 17/7/17 where contestants will invite their friends to vote and the winners would be decided based on highest votes. There are other consolation prices for participants.”
She stressed that the contest is strictly for youth and women as it is “to encourage entrepreneurial spirits in youth and women to be empowered as we all know over 4.58 million Nigerians have lost their jobs under Buhari/APC led government and lots more are underemployed hence the rise in crime which in one way or the other affect all of us.”
