Borno State Governor, Babagana Zulum, Wednesday, visited Pastor Bitrus Tumba, whose son, Ezekiel Bitrus, died during the demolition of EYN Church.
Violence broke out between security operatives attached to the Borno Geographic Information Service (BOGIS) and worshipers on August 5, 2021.
Adam Bababe, BOGIS Executive Secretary led the team to the Ekklesiyar Yan’uwa Nigeria (EYN) branch in the Maduganari area of Maiduguri.
Zulum was received by the family and officials of Christians Association of Nigeria (CAN) led by the chairman, Bishop Mohammed Naga.
He had on the day of the incident sent his deputy, Umar Kadafur to meet the victims and also directed the police to commence a probe.
In his remarks, the governor confirmed the arrest of suspects and admitted that he deliberately delayed his visit because of the tension in town.
“We thought it was not a good time to pay you a visit then. I am here to commiserate with your family over the unfortunate death of our brother, Ezekiel Bitrus.
“My coming today, weeks after that very unfortunate and painful incident, is proof that we have not forgotten the issue.
