Concerned Nigerians Hail US Over Visa Ban on Politicians ‘Undermining’ Democracy

The Convener of Concerned Nigerians, Deji Adeyanju and the National Secretary of the group, Hauwa Abdulsalam, have commended the United States (US) government for banning some high profile Nigerians who played questionable roles undermining democracy in Nigeria.

Adeyanju, in a statement, said: “We commend the United States (US) on its decision to impose visa restrictions on Nigerians who have undermined Nigeria’s democratic and electoral process.

“We appeal to the U.S. government to extend this visa ban to officers of the Nigerian Armed Forces and the Nigerian Police Force who allowed the apparatus of the Nigerian state to be used as tools of oppression against the people.”

“We hope that in the future, the U.S. government will consider the seizure of assets and the foreclosure of business interests of Nigerians who actively undermine the nation’s constitutional democratic process.”
