Cross River Govt. Reinforces No Entry Order at Boundaries With Neighbours

The Cross River Government on Tuesday reinforced it “no entry, no exit” directive with neighbouring states in a bid to ensure a COVID-19 free state.

Gov. Ben Ayade gave the directive while adressing security operatives and other support staff at Gakem-Benue Border on Tuesday in Gakem, Cross River.

The governor, who was represented by Mr Signor Idiege, Commissioner for Youth Development and Skills Acquisition, said his administration’s only concern was to keep Cross River and her residents safe from COVID-19.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the state as of April 27 has yet to record an index case of COVID-19.

The governor had recalled his aides assigned to different boundary posts, except the Itu Bridge Post, due to poor enforcement of the lockout.

Ayade said that the efforts must be sustained and supported without compromise.

“Nobody irrespective of status will be allowed to leave or come into the state through the Gakem-Benue boundary or any other.

“Since all the states bordering Cross River have cases of the Coronavirus, there must be strict adherence to boundary lockdown and other safety measures to remain safe,” he said. (NAN)
