The federal government has declared Friday, April 19 and Monday, April 22 as public holidays to mark the Easter celebration.
Georgina Ehuriah, permanent secretary, ministry of interior, announced the holiday in a statement.
Easter is a Christian festival commemorating the resurrection of Jesus Christ. It is described in the New Testament as having occurred on the third day after his burial following his crucifixion by the Romans at Calvary in 30 AD.
Dambazau enjoined all Christians to emulate the exemplary attributes of Jesus Christ amongst which he listed to include tolerance, love and peaceful co-existence.
He urged all Nigerians, home and in the diaspora, to use the occasion to pray for the peace, unity, and progress of the country irrespective of their diversity in religious beliefs.
He further called on Nigerians to support the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari in its determination to take the country to the next level.
