Magu Condemns Badeh’s Murder, Condoles With Family

The acting Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, Mr. Ibrahim Magu, has expressed his condolences and shock over the death of the former Chief of Defence Staf, Air Chief Marshal Alex Badeh, who was killed on Tuesday.

“On behalf of the entire officers and men of the EFCC, I hereby offer our heartfelt condolences over the sudden and untimely death of the former CDS,” Magu said in a letter of condolence dated December 19, 2018, and addressed to the Chief of Defence Staff, Gen. Gabriel Olanisakin.

Magu condemned in the strongest terms, the “crude and senseless manner of the attack leading to the death of the former CDS”, and called on the relevant security agencies “to ensure that the perpetrators of this dastardly act are apprehended and brought to book”.

While condoling with the family of the late CDS, Magu said, “We pray the Almighty God will give the Defence Headquarters, the Nigeria Air Force, Adamawa State and other stakeholders, the grace to bear the irreparable loss.”

Badeh had been facing the EFCC prosecution for over two years before his death.

The late Air Force officer was standing trial before a Federal High Court in Maitama for allegedly diverting over N3.9bn from the account of the Air Force.

Badeh’s family has been on exile in the United States for over two years, causing the EFCC to place them on a watch-list.

He had forfeited six properties in Abuja to the commission in 2016.
