Never Again Will Nigeria Be Governed By Opportunists — Oshiomhole

The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Mr Adams Oshiomhole, on Sunday berated the Peoples Democratic Party and ex-President Olusegun Obasanjo, saying never again would Nigeria be ruled by opportunists.

He said attempts being made by Obasanjo to impose a proxy president on the country in 2019 would never see the light of the day.

Oshiomhole, who spoke during a grand rally at Sani Abacha Stadium to welcome defectors from the Peoples Democratic Party and the Kwankwasiyya Movement to the APC, pointed out that without the support of Obasanjo, Nigerians would vote en-masse for President Buhari.

The chairman said the APC did not promise to reposition Nigeria in four years, stressing that what the PDP destroyed in 16 years could never be fixed in three and a half years

The APC national chairman said,” Today, those who through a single telephone would make billions of Naira have regrouped when they ran to Port Harcourt. They have forgotten that what they destroyed in the last 16 years could not be fixed in just three and a half years.”

“Today, our opponents in the PDP are crying even before the elections proper. They wrote a letter of complaint to the United Nations I wonder who will carry the letter for them, forgetting that it was them, who introduced a do or die affair politics during Obasanjo’s tenure. Buhari is highly respected across the globe, so he is bigger than rigging the elections”.

“Never again will this country be governed by opportunists, who have in the last 16 years wasted the nation’s treasury.”

In his remarks, a former Kano State Governor, Mallam Ibrahim Shekarau, expressed optimism that the APC would record a landslide victory in 2019.

The state Governor, Dr Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, stressed that nothing would stop the APC from getting five million votes for Buhari.

Earlier at the rally, Shekarau said he and his supporters were happy to return to the APC, predicting that the general elections would be a total victory for the party.

He said, “It is appropriate for me to say that it is a great day for me to address a mammoth crowd of supporters of the APC. I am happy that history is now repeating itself, noting that it would be recalled that sometime in 2014, he dumped the party but now back to the party”

“I have great honour today, as we left the party in 2014, with reasons, as we decided to step aside and now we have resolved to move back to APC”, he said.

“To this end, Shakarau commended his supporters, who have all moved to APC along with him, adding that: “ I am now proud to be a member of APC and promise total commitment to the party.

“Come 2019, we would join all patriotic members of the party to work tirelessly for the victory of the party.”

Earlier on the occasion, Ganduje said with Shekarau joining the APC, it had hijacked more than half of the members of PDP.

He added that the APC was a great party, not only in Nigeria, but also in Africa, noting that the party would continue to wax stronger, because with the number of highly rated personalities joining the party, along with Mallam Shekarau, there was no more any cog on the path of the party to retain the power.
