Oscar Pistorious Denied Chance to Appeal Murder Conviction

Oscar Pistorious has been refused the chance to appeal his murder conviction.

The Constitutional Court in South Africa has dismissed the application.

He was initially sentenced for culpable homicide over the killing of his girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp.

But the Supreme Court of Appeal upgraded the 29-year-old’s conviction to murder in December.

Olympian Oscar Pisitorius was denied the right to appeal on the basis there were ‘no reasonable grounds of success’ local media has reported.

Now he faces a possible minimum 15-year jail sentence.

Pistorious shot his girlfriend dead on Valentine’s Day 2013 through the bathroom door of his home.

He insists he believed she was an intruder.
