Prosecuting Apostle Suleiman, Bishop Oyedepo Will Cause Crisis, Fayose Warns DSS

The Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose, has warned the Department of State Services against alleged plan to detain and subsequent charging to court of the General Overseer of The Omega Fire Ministries Worldwide, Apostle Johnson Suleiman.

The governor also alleged that there were plans to invite and charge the General Overseer of the Winners Chapel Ministry, Bishop David Oyedepo, on Wednesday alongside Suleman for incitement and attempts to cause public disorder.

Recall that Fayose, in the early hours of Wednesday prevented the operatives of the DSS from arresting Suleman when they stormed his hotel room in Ado Ekiti.

The pastor, who was in Ekiti for a two-day crusade that began on Tuesday, was alleged to have been preaching against Islamising Nigeria and asked members of his church in Auchi, Edo State, to resist the killings by suspected to be Fulani herdsmen.

He had been reportedly invited by the DSS and is billed to appear on Monday (today).

Fayose said on Sunday the plans to humiliate men of God and as well silence them to create fear in other people that might speak against heinous crimes against humanity being daily committed by criminals would be counter-productive.

He wondered why the killer herdsmen had not been arrested by the Federal Government.

The governor advised the government and the DSS not to go ahead with these plans as they would create national crisis.

He said, “No herdsman or masterminds of the Kaduna killings has been brought to justice till date. The Federal Government should pay attention to the economy they destroyed and revamp it and safe Nigerians from hunger ravaging the land.

“We were not been badly divided as a nation as we are under the Buhari-led administration.

“The killings under this government in 18 months are more than what they have been all put together since independence.”
