Former governor of Abia State, Dr. Orji Uzor Kalu, has called on Anambarians not to make the mistake of over looking the youthfulness and enterprise that All Progressives Congress, APC, governorship candidate, Dr. Tony Nwoye, is offering the state in the forthcoming governorship election in the state.
Speaking in Awka, the state capital, when he joined Nwoye on another campaign round, Kalu praised Nwoye’s energy and vision for the state, which he said is far above that articulated by his major rivals.
He also affirmed that Nwoye’s election would consolidate the aspiration by Igbo political leaders to have a head start in the 2023 presidential election just as he praised him for helping get the contractors handling the Onitsha-Enugu Expressway back to work. Orji also lambasted the incumbent governor of the state, Chief Willie Obiano, for his poor records as he noted that all that was passed on to him by his predecessor have fallen into rot.
A statement by Mr Nonso Madu, Nwoye Campaign spokesman quoted him as saying: “I am happy with the crowd that I am seeing around Dr. Nwoye, it is a major indication of the fact that Ndi Igbo are aligning with the political mainstream in the country.
“Those leading APGA today are building a false foundation that their party is the Igbo party, but it is a lie, it is a party that they are using for merchandise and for their profit.
“Tony has associated with the right party. Tony is the right man for Anambra, and he is in the right party to take Ndi Igbo to the presidency. We do not know who, but we know that the election of Tony will put us in a better position to articulate the views of the Igbo at the national level.”
