$1bn Allegation: Emir Sanusi Has “Gone Completely Mad” – Fani-Kayode

Kingsley Kanayo

Former Minister of Aviation and the Director of Media and Publicity of the Jonathan/Sambo Presidential Campaign Organization in the last general elections, Chief Olufemi Olu-Kayode better known as Femi Fani-Kayode, has blasted the Emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi II, for alleging that $1 billion was stolen monthly under the former administration.

Emir Sanusi, a former Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, in an interview with US TV news, PBS Newshour, alleged that the worse form of corruption in the world took place under the immediate past Goodluck Jonathan administration

“In Nigeria, there is no accountability at all and that is why I think Nigerian corruption is worse than in many parts of the world because it is the worst type of corruption. It’s stealing”, he said, adding “Frankly, I think a billion dollars under Jonathan a month was about what we were losing”.

This claim was strongly rejected by Mr. Fani-Kayode, a former Aviation Minister, who said the Emir of Kano had gone “completely mad”.

Reacting to the comments on his Facebook page, Fani-Kayode said the Emir of Kano should back up his claims with evidence or he should keep quiet and ‘hold his peace’.

He wrote: “When I was told that the Emir said this to the American media I was left with the conclusion that he has completely lost touch with reality and possibly lost his mind. He should provide the evidence to prove his allegation that one billion dollars was stolen every month by Jonathan or he should just shut up and hold his peace.”

“If it is not President Buhari travelling to foreign lands to criminalize and defame the Nigerian people with his malicious words and absurd generalizations it is people like Emir Sanusi Lamido. This rubbish has to stop.”
