Human rights and political activist Aisha Yesufu has berated Minister of Transportation Rotimi Amaechi for denying Sunday night attack on train passengers going to Kaduna from Rigasa station.
Amaechi had denied a report by Daily Nigerian about the attack, describing it as fake news.
But Aisha accused the minister of lying in several tweets on Monday.
“Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi you should be ashamed of yourself. My sister, my brother and my sister-in-law were in that train. When your convoy scattered and you fled like a new born mouse whom water have been poured on, it was witnessed!. GOVERNANCE IS NOT BY LIES & PROPAGANDA!”, she wrote.
She knocked Amaechi further in another tweet: “@ChibuikeAmaechi instead of preparing notes to tell the President that the insecurity is real, you called it fake news. When they are done with us and our children, they will come after you and your children!”

Madam, I was not attacked, I did not see or escaped attackers, bandits or kidnappers. I did not “fled like a…” Insults & abuses will not change the fact that I was not attacked or escaped attack, in Kaduna last night. BTW, we can still be respectful & courteous here. Daily Nigerian since the report on Sunday night had declined to pull down the story, which was based on a witness account.
The witness, Musa Lawan, told the paper that :“We were lucky the police and soldiers are nearby to come our rescue. The minister of Transport Rotimi Amaechi was among the passengers. His convoy had to make a detour onto Rigasa road.”
Lawan was among the hundreds of passengers that arrived at the station at about 8.15pm.
As their vehicles moved into town, through Mando area, gunmen who had laid an ambush fired at them, with the aim of forcing them to stop to kidnap some of the passengers for ransom.
