The Deputy Governor of Ekiti State, Chief Bisi Egbeyemi, on Sunday morning, slapped Sunday Olasekun, a Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) officer attached to the Government House.
A witness in the Government House who did not want to be named told SIGNAL on Sunday that the 75-year-old Deputy Governor, who acted under the influence of alcohol, slapped the officer, attempted to seize his rifle and gripped his uniform.
The policemen attached to the Deputy Governor, having witnessed the unruly behaviour of their principal resorted to placating and pleading with Olasekun, to allow the case to be settled within the Government House, and not allow it to get to the media and the public.
A few minutes later, when Chief Egbeyemi was going to church, he stopped at the security gate where the NSCDC officer was on duty, rolled down his vehicle window, and told him (Olasekun) to see him when he returns from church.
The assaulted Olasekun, who is said to still be in shock as to why a Deputy Governor, who is above 75 years old, could be so unruly has kept mute all through the development.
More to come…
