‘We Are Grateful Sir’, Pro-Buhari Protests Kick Off in Abuja #IStandWithNigeria

Just as Nigerians in Lagos and Abuja filtered into the streets on Monday to protest against poverty, economic hardship and the anti-people policies of the Muhammadu Buhari government, another group of protesters who say they are in support of President Buhari, have gathered at the Unity Park, in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja.

Supporters were seen carrying placards with inscriptions such as: ”We are grateful to you Sir, “Your Government is a good government”.

This protest apparently, is to counter the anti-Buhari demonstration which is also taking place at the Unity Park.

So far, the conduct of the protesters on both sides have been peaceful but it is not clear if that would remain the case as procession across the city progresses.

Reports from Lagos say heavy police security is denying access to protesters at the National Stadium grounds.

More to come.
