NEC‘ll Decide Amosun, Okorocha, Others Fate — APC

The All Progressives Congress says the fate of the suspended Ogun State Governor, Ibikunle Amosun; and his Imo State counterpart, Rochas Okorocha, will be decided by the National Executive Committee.

The APC’s National Working Committee, at its last meeting, had suspended the two men for alleged anti-party activities.

Also suspended at the meeting were the Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Usani Usani, and the Director General of Voice of Nigeria, Osita Okechukwu.

At the meeting presided over by the APC National Chairman, Adams Oshiomhole, the NWC resolved to recommend their expulsion to the NEC, which is the highest organ of the party.

The NWC also agreed to issue a query to the Governor of Ondo State, Rotimi Akeredolu, over what it called his glaring anti-party activities.

Since the decisions were made, the NEC has yet to hold a meeting.

However, when contacted if there were developments on the matter, the APC National Publicity Secretary, Mallam Lanre Issa-Onilu, replied, “The situation hasn’t changed.”

Issa-Onilu, however, refused to make specific reference to Akeredolu’s matter.

But our correspondent gathered on Sunday that the NWC had already issued a query to the governor which he had yet to respond to.

While justifying its decision to suspend the affected members, the APC had in a press release accused them of not showing any remorse but actually stepping up their actions.

It had said, “The party reviewed the serial anti-party activities of the concerned individuals before and during the last presidential and National Assembly elections and resolved to enforce party discipline in line with our constitution.”
