In 2014, Tessy Oliseh-Amaize, British trained, award-winning Nigerian fashion designer and Creative Director of Tesslo Concepts re-created a British Army frock coat which was used by her fiancé Ohimai Godwin Amaize as his Groom’s wedding outfit during their White Wedding in Lagos, Nigeria on April 26, 2014.
Prior to this time, no one in the British Royal family had ever used the outfit as a Groom’s wedding costume. Four years after, Prince Harry rocked the black Army frock coat for Saturday’s #RoyalWedding.
The Metro reports that Harry had been given express permission by the Queen to use this particular outfit for his wedding, saying; ‘Her Majesty The Queen gave her permission for Prince Harry to get married in his uniform’, adding that both uniforms adorned by Prince Harry and his best man Prince William were tailored at Dege & Skinner on Savile Row.
The appearance of Prince Harry in the outfit on Saturday elicited a tweet from Mr. Amaize, who now happens to be the first person to ever rock the outfit as a Groom’s costume for a wedding.
The tweet has since generated a lot of social media commentary with many commending the Nigerian designer for her impeccable taste and trend-setting foresight.
Prince Harry’s wedding outfit just gave me goose bumps… 4 years ago, my talented wife @tessloconcepts pulled off the blue version of the military outfit for our wedding. We didn’t see this coming… #RoyalWedding pic.twitter.com/znaSEDT0m8
