Stand Up for Idoma Nation, Idoma Professionals Urge David Mark

Press Release

Coalition of Young Idoma Professionals across Nigeria yesterday beckoned on the immediate past President of the Senate, Senator David Mark to stand firm for the survival of Idoma nation.

The group comprised of young professionals from Otukpo, Ohimini, Ado, Apa, Agatu, Okpokwu, Ogbadibo, Obi and Oju local government areas making up Benue South Senatorial district of Benue State.

The coalition in a solidarity visit led by it’s coordinator Mr. Oche Odang Josef to the Abuja residence of Senator Mark ahead of the Benue South rerun election insisted: “You remain our choice until the Idoma nation decides otherwise. For now, we have no reason to alter the equation.”

“We are convinced about your leadership. We know how much you have positively impacted on Idoma people. No matter the amount of treachery and mudslinging, we are irrevocably committed to your leadership.

“Those who think they can undermine the interest of our people and determine our destiny should think otherwise. No external influence will be tolerated in this election. We have our choice to make.”

The coalition asked Senator Mark not to worry about the election saying, “you have done your beat as a father and leader. This battle is for us your children. We cannot afford to let you down.

“Those who want to test the will of our people should be ready for the consequences. Those who are propelling one Daniel Onjeh to insult the sensibility of our leaders should not run away when the chips are down.

“We crave for a free, fair and credible election. We are not taking it for granted because the interest of the Idoma nation is paramount. Senator Mark remains the conscience of Idoma people and there is no going back”.

Responding, an emotion laden Senator Mark said he was deeply touched by the uncommon solidarity from the professionals saying that he has been further encouraged to serve his people faithfully.

The former Senate President said: “I am impressed with your firm commitment. I can see you spoke from your hearts. I will not fail you”.

Senator Mark stated that his interest in public service has been and will always be for the welfare and wellbeing of his people, pointing out however  that he remains a pan-Nigerian who craves for a nation of equal opportunities devoid of ethnic or religious sentiment.

On the forthcoming rerun election, he stressed: “I believe that only the Idoma people should have the right to decide who should represent them and not external forces, saying that “Nobody should interfere in our our family affairs.”
