The Central Bank of Nigeria has denied reports that the governor of the apex bank, Godwin Emefiele has been sacked.
Reacting to the report, Isaac Okoroafor, CBN spokesman, said the allegation is totally untrue.
“I don’t understand what you mean…as I speak to you, the CBN is in his office performing his duties”, he was quoted as saying.
However, certain media outlets had earlier reported that Emefiele had been removed from office by the federal government and ordered to hand over to an unnamed successor within two weeks.
