Malam Ibrahim Shekarau has been declared by the Independent National Electoral Commission in Kano as the elected Senator for Kano Central District.
The former governor of Kano contested for the seat under the All Progressive Congress, beating PDP’s Aliyu Sani-Madawakingini.
The Returning Officer for the district, Prof. Adamu Alhaji-Samaila before announcing the winner, informed that Shekarau scored 506, 271 votes to defeat the PDP’s candidate, Aliyu Sani-Madawakingini who polled 276, 768 votes.
The APC went on to win all other senatorial seats in the district.
Below is a breakdown of the results from Kano.
ANO ANNOUNCES RESULTS OF SENATE ELECTIONS FROM THE THREE SENATORIAL DISTRICTS AS FOLLOWS:
1. KANO CENTRAL SENATORIAL DISTRICT:
-Aliyu Sani-Madawakingini, PDP: 391,593 VOTES
2. KANO SOUTH SENATORIAL DISTRICT:
-Kabiru Gaya, APC: 319,004 VOTES
-Sani Rogo, PDP: 217,520 VOTES
3. KANO NORTH SENATORIAL DISTRICT:
-Barau Jibrin, APC: 286,419 VOTES
-Ahmed Bichi, PDP: 155,638 VOTES
