The Presidency on Monday announced the death of the Director of Information, State House, Mr. Justin Abuah.
According to a statement by the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Mr. Femi Adesina, the deceased, aged 57, died on Sunday in Abuja after a brief sickness.
He said Abuah, fondly called O.J, had a long and rich career at the Presidency, where he served seven past Nigerian leaders since 1986 when he joined the State House media office from the News Agency of Nigeria.
The development, according to reports available to SIGNAL has thrown the Aso Rock presidential villa into a state of panic as staff at the villa reacted to the news of Abuah’s death with apprehension.
“We don’t really know what is going on. Too many deaths have been recorded by this administration within a very short time. We have buried a minister, an ambassador, two former national coaches and two presidential aides back to back in less than two weeks. People are reacting with fear and apprehension wondering what is going on. We can only pray and hope for the best”, a senior government official who did not want to be named told SIGNAL.
Abuah’s death is coming just a few days after Senior Special Assistant to President Buhari on Economic Matters, Ayodele Adu died in India after a brief illness. Adu passed away at the 44. Adu, and was described as “a diligent economic professional and Certified Financial Analyst, CFA.”
Until his appointment, he was Chief Executive Officer of Morgan Capital Securities Ltd, and was a member of the President’s Economic Management Team and a presidential aide deployed to the Office of Vice President Yemi Osinbajo.
Mr. Abuah died at the age of 59. A native of Asaba, Oshimili South Local Government Area, Delta State, he is survived by his wife, Loretta and three children (Chinedum, Chike and Amaechi).
