The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has scheduled an emergency national executive committee (NEC) meeting for Tuesday.
Kola Ologbondiyan, spokesman of the party, announced this late Monday.
He said the meeting will hold at the Wadata Plaza headquarters of the party in Abuja at 12 mid-day on Tuesday.
Ologbindiyan did not make public the agenda of the meeting but the announcement comes less than two hours after the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) said political parties were free to continue with their campaign.
Mahmood Yakubu, chairman of INEC, had first said the period for campaign was over despite the postponement of the elections.
The All Progressives Congress (APC) and the PDP had vowed to disregard the directive of Yakubu not to campaign.
Both parties maintained that his directive was in violation of the electoral act which allows campaign until 24 hours to the election.
The national caucus of the APC met at the party’s headquarters in Abuja on Monday and reviewed the poll shift, threat to stop campaign and other issues dominating the polity.
The two leading parties are concluding their strategies in the week to the presidential and national assembly elections.
