Ahead of Saturday’s by-elections for Ekiti/Irepodun/Isin/Oke-ero Federal Constituency in Kwara State, a police helicopter was on Wednesday sighted hovering around Omu-Aran town, in Kwara South creating panic among residents.
According to eyewitness accounts, the police aircraft hovered for about 20 minutes before landing in one of the primary schools.
On landing, items carefully packaged in five (5) sacks were offloaded from the aircraft to some vehicles. Social media commentary on the developing story suggest that the items are INEC election materials and the receiving vehicles belong to Mr. Raheem Olawuyi aka Ajulopin – the House of Representatives candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the forthcoming election.

However, in a swift rebuttal, INEC in a statement via its official Twitter handle on Wednesday night disclaimed the reports as untrue stating that all INEC sensitive materials are kept in the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) vaults.

This development is coming after Kwara State Governor, Abdulfatah Ahmed, raised alarm over the influx of suspected political thugs into the state as the by-election approaches.
Governor Ahmed, who declared that the state is under siege, dropped the hint yesterday when he received Concerned Kwara South Youth at the Government House, Ilorin.
More to come…
